Denver’s Hotel Teatro Offers Chilly Fun, Warm Reception
How unfair would it be to skip town for a snowy vacation and leave Snoopy behind? Denver’s Hotel Teatro has you and your pooch covered.
As the city’s first dog-friendly boutique hotel, they offer total service: The entire staff is on hand to take your doggy out on potty breaks or on a trip to Dog Savvy (a nearby dog boutique and spa, where your pup can even get a relaxing blueberry facial!) Plus, the hotel’s new Pets in the City package keeps four-legged guests comfy, cozy and entertained with food, water, chew toys and treats—there’s even a copy of Colorado Dog Magazine so you can keep up on regional dog happenings. And since the hotel is located in the city’s hip LoDo district, you and yours will have plenty of trendy sidewalks to peruse.
This winter, when Denver calls, you can answer with a ‘woof.’

Indoor Playground for Parents & Puppies
Located downtown Houston in Midtown
The brand new Bow Wow Beach Club is essentially an indoor dog park for parents and puppies. It includes the swimming pool as well as the adjoining indoor playground. Both areas are used for playtime by our daycare and boarding dogs and, too cool for school, are available as well for parents and their puppies to come play together!
The very clean and climate controlled playground has the same rubber mat flooring as our daycare play areas. This offers great cushion for joints and traction for dogs and people alike. The playground is also equipped with ramps, stairs, tunnels, weave poles, broad and high jumps for play and agility style fun for parents and pups.
Why come to an indoor playground like this? Well, lots of reasons! Rain an cold come to mind . . . ! Also, unlike a dog park, our indoor playground is kept scooped and clean, the dogs have been tested for good “sandbox skills” and it is overseen by staff experienced in group dog management so that all play is safe and fun for the dogs. We teach parents the essentials of good dog communication skills so that you are a well educated dog owner when it comes to social skills. After all, we wrote the book!

Yappy Hour
One of the most fabulous pet friendly cities is Austin, Texas. There are so many restaurants that cater to my canines and I. Some of the dog parks have creeks so my boys can go swimming. When my boys and I are out enjoying the variety of activities in Austin they usually sleep the next day for most of the day.
On the last Friday of every month one canine trainer hosts a Yappy Hour at The Irie Bean Coffee Bar on South Lamar. A new or used toy is requested as a donation to attend.
Dogs are allowed to run free around the patio area where plenty of water bowls are available for them. During this three hour gathering entertainment is provided by the hostess on a stage where dogs do a variety of tricks. This event is a great way to meet other canine lovers in addition to having canine’s socializing. It is interesting to watch how the smaller dogs react to the larger dogs. Some of them enjoy racing one another or playing with a toy while others sit on mom’s lap monitoring all the action. Only a few individuals had multiple dogs.
Oh did I mention the dog treat containers on each table. I had a treat in my hand for one of my canines when other canines came around me and sat down immediately. One could define the trained canines when a treat was in an individuals’ hand.
Have you attended a Yappy Hour? If so, share your experiences.
